#16 The Ring and Home....

Our closest large town is Leamington. Many of you will know that it is known as the tomato capital of Canada. I'm not sure that is still true but.... I recently heard that the town was hoping to get this giant tomato downtown refurbished this year and willing to pay 50k to get the job done. Really? I think I could do it for $500 and make a healthy profit!!!! Following the perch fiasco I went to trip advisor to find their recommendations for seafood in Leamington and Joey's was their #1. I often use trip advisor when we travel to find out where the best food is. I've written numerous reviews of the good, bad and ugly. As we walk in the first door there is a sandwich board advertising today's special and you'll never guess what it was.... right!!! Perch. That gave us a laugh. I'll pass..... We studied the menu like you would study for an important exam. Finally we chose a seafood chowder (5/10), a lobster bisque (9/10) and coconut shrimp (8/10). Next time we tra...

#15 Perch - Yuck & The 100 Day Cough

Image
This whole area is inundated with wind turbines. Sometimes they are all in sync and other times they are all doing their own thing. Lovely to see. This week found us back in Cottam getting Max groomed again. The groomer said it went even better this time. Hmmm What exactly does that mean??? We had time to waste so up the road to Essex to go to Blimey to purchase $120 worth of cup of soups from England. They are so good!!!  Since we were in the hood we dropped by to see the house we stayed in 2 years ago. What a majestic home!!! I pulled into the driveway and immediately noticed a car parked ahead of me. Then the lights came on and I figured they wanted out so I backed onto the street as I wanted to take this pic. They never did leave. They probably thought we were casing the joint. lol Love the sign and it has special significance to Tehya. It is on the way to Harrow where one of the really good second hand stores can be found.  "What do you mean? You have redesigned th...

#14 On the Other Side of the Great Abyss......

Interesting how sometimes, in our darkest times, it is the smallest occurrences that can bring joy to our hearts.  In my life, the last two weeks have been a very tough time. I spent 12 days in bed with a copd exasperation. 48 hours in I started on my emergency drugs. 5 days worth. At the end of 5 days not much had changed. Then the great debate started of whether to call an ambulance or not. Not to take me to the hospital but to get me admitted. I carry drugs and stuff to evaluate what is going on. I can test my temperature, blood pressure, sputum colour and blood oxygen. Did I need an iv drip and oxygen up my nose? I so did not want to go through this again!!! So I toughed it out and made it!!! Scary but hey, I'm a pretty brave chick!!! Back to the pic above.  On Valentines Day, a blur to me, Ray brought me flowers and then later in the day announced there was a surprise outside. No, not a new car.... A huge batch of balloons caught in a tree just outside of my window...

#13 Two Sickies and a Dog

Image
Oh we are sick. Very, very sick. It sounds like a TB ward around here. If one of us isn't coughing the other is. Ray got this dastardly bug a week ago Saturday. I was all proud because I didn't get it until....this Saturday. I started on my heavy duty meds this morning and will go back to bed once I've completed this assignment. Part of this weeks adventure in Wheatley was the arrival of this commercial fishing boat to pick up its haul. There had been a marker out in front of our house for a few days and then the boys arrived!!! Only problem was that they loaded the gill net from the other side of the boat so I couldn't watch. I'll have to get that fixed. On Monday we had an appointment with a vet in Leamington to get another opinion on Max's eyes. Now, don't forget that Ray was only a couple of days into the dastardly disease but I really wanted to go so off we went.....The entry way is a little awkward to say the least. Up a few stairs without a hand rai...

#12 Chair Yoga and The Man Cold

Image
More antiquing this week. That pile is getting mighty large and Ray is actually looking at buying a truck!!! I have Coke clients who will gobble this one up.... Another day, another puzzle. This one appeals on so many levels. I'm a great lover of water and boats. Especially sail boats. Europe calls me occasionally.... Last week we couldn't go to chair yoga as we were iced in. This week we were, ok, I was so happy to be able to go. I'm so glad I took this picture before all of the lights were turned off. There were 5 of us in the class. Us and another person had never been before so potentially 2 had returned from the previous week when 9 had attended. I predict that this Wednesday no one will attend. I don't know where this woman got her training but she could have done better just watching you tube videos!!!! She had no idea how to do a class in chair yoga. I've been doing it for years and could have honestly done a better job. After about 10 minutes she had us u...

#11 KKK, Bar Tending and the NHL

I'm sitting in the Wheatley Library waiting for the printer to print when I suddenly see this book on the shelf. Actually, I could only see the spine. I jump up to grab it thinking, "What the heck is this book doing at the Wheatley Library?" I'm thinking it must be a really old copy, like from 1904 or something but when I check it was printed in 2016. Good Grief!!! I put it back on the shelf and am then haunted by it for days and go back and take it out. Funny it is still on the shelf.... Anyway, it was quite the fascinating read. I had no idea of all the groups included in their hate. It actually was about the 1920s not what you would call up to date. Next time we are together let me know if you want to know anything. I'm a limited wealth of information on the subject now...... Our poinsettia finally got turfed this week. I hate to admit that it probably had a few more weeks in it but I'm had enough of this bush on the table for the last 6 weeks or more. Na...
