#4 Extraordinary Days....

I'm being haunted by teaching days. You teach kids to have a great title and a catchy first sentence to get your readers engaged....

I'm trying hard not to have this blog full of ocean  views and food. Not an easy self expectation....

I have always been drawn to the ocean. When our kids were growing up, I always told Ray I had to have a yearly dose of ocean and tried to make that happen. Later Georgian Bay became my ocean and now it is Lake Erie. I love watching the waves, listening to the water, sailing on the water but no longer swimming in it as I have seen too many nasty things that live in it!!!

Have you ever wanted to see $20 worth of quarters? Well here I am to make that dream come true. When I asked Ray to get me change at the laundromat, I wasn't expecting it to come back to me all in quarters.....

Do you think Max might have a tooth ache or is he just being coy? Yesterday when we were leaving for church I left first and Max was told that he wasn't coming. He then knocked his leash off of the chest  beside the door where we keep it with his nose. Dog protest. He still didn't get to come.

This is the laneway leading to our house. There are a few permanent residence but most are summer cottage people.

Blogger won't let me enlarge this pic. It is our house from the laneway. 902 Hiawatha Beach, Wheatley. And no one has wanted to change the name yet???

This is our laneway going south to the dead end which is actually Wheatley Provincial Park.

We have checked out the main park entrance and it has a sign saying no vehicle entry past this point and it took all of my will power not to drive through.... Anyway, there is a back entrance or more like a side entrance to the park just down the road from us and the other day we went to check it out.

Now this appears to be some sort of obstacle race. There were other cars parked where we did and I was concerned that some cute wee dog could appear at any moment and Max would think it was a squirrel and "play" with it. Thank goodness that didn't happen.

This was actually a gorgeous piece of Mother Nature Art. The assumption being that one would just hop over it and continue on the trail. Me? No thanks, this is where I turn around.

I have been waiting since July to get my birthday card from Tehya. It finally arrived at General Deliver Wheatley on Friday. We walked down to bank to get a roll of twonies and discovered that it would appear that no one in Wheatley uses the bank machine. Everyone uses one of the two tellers. One experienced and one learning the ropes. Great. I can open my card while I'm waiting. OMG all of these cutsy little pieces of paper float down and all over the floor. I burst out laughing. Like laughing in an elevator obviously. I try to act like I don't know what they are and how they got there and then realize that it must be pretty obvious as they are all around my shoes so I gather them up and  I discover that I have to spit on my finger to get them to adhere!!! And no one offered to help.....

Saturday was gorgeous. Sunshine. No snow. It was road trip time. We headed out to Essex to go to the British store Blimey. I was hoping to find some leather driving gloves. You know the ones with the holes in the backs that the pros wear but alas they didn't have any. I figured with my knack for getting pulled over for speeding I should get the look. I also wanted to get some jars of cockles but sadly they were sold out so I settled for mussels. Don't they look dark and evil but delicious? I also got some good British Cadbury's chocolate but hey it is all gone so no pic available.

Don't forget we have room for you if you would like to come and visit. It can get lonely out here on the ocean.

Have a fantastic week and be blessed!!!
