#11 KKK, Bar Tending and the NHL

I'm sitting in the Wheatley Library waiting for the printer to print when I suddenly see this book on the shelf. Actually, I could only see the spine. I jump up to grab it thinking, "What the heck is this book doing at the Wheatley Library?" I'm thinking it must be a really old copy, like from 1904 or something but when I check it was printed in 2016. Good Grief!!! I put it back on the shelf and am then haunted by it for days and go back and take it out. Funny it is still on the shelf.... Anyway, it was quite the fascinating read. I had no idea of all the groups included in their hate. It actually was about the 1920s not what you would call up to date. Next time we are together let me know if you want to know anything. I'm a limited wealth of information on the subject now...... Our poinsettia finally got turfed this week. I hate to admit that it probably had a few more weeks in it but I'm had enough of this bush on the table for the last 6 weeks or more. Na...

#10 Books and Birds and Antiquing....

These are finished winter reads along with two Jeannette Walls books that I'm taking home for a friend to read. This batch went to the library as a donation and the next time I went in, they were on the shelf!!! The librarian said, "You read good books!" When I called in to see if the library wanted them, she asked me in a very dubious voice, "Who are the authors?" I think she was afraid that I was going to say Danielle Steel or that they were all Harlequin romances.  We finally got snow and with it came new birds including this gorgeous cardinal and his partner. We also got to see two swans flying past, blue jays, morning doves, cow birds, starlings and some unidentifiable little number.  I heard the bird hit the window. Then I heard Max's head hit the window and then this is how he stayed for over an hour. I'm not sure if he was consoling or waiting for lunch. Did I hear a dog? I did!!!!! And just minutes before it had been eating away with the rest ...

#9 And the Wind Blew and Blew and .....

Many locals had told us to buy gas at the Res. We finally made it this week as we were in the area. I thought it was going to be way out of town but it was close to the southern border of Leamington. I drive around first trying to figure out how this works. Not sure if it is ok to buy gas here. I don't have a status card!!! Note how there is no one in this lane. I finally park to the left of the sign and then wonder if everyone over here has cards. Ray starts asking the guy beside us and thankfully the guy was hard of hearing and left without giving us any guidance. I advise Ray to just fill er up!!! And he did. As you can see, this is not a little gas bar. It is huge!!! There is also a convenience store and I'm going to check it out to see if there are any crafts inside.  And here it is. The reason for this being such a popular spot. In Wheatley gas is 134.5. I guess we will be back to fill er up again!!! As you were leaving the house the other day, I see this pile of tires...

On a clear day, we can see Peele Island National Park. It is the strip in the background. Pelee Island is an hour and a half ferry ride away. The only way to get there right now is to fly in from Windsor.  One day this week, my neighbour/friend from home Yvonne, messaged me that she finally had some snow. I took this pic and sent it to her. "Me too!!!" Our marriage had always had a division of labour. Ray walks the dog and I'm on poop scoop duty. FYI - If your poop scoop bags have been in the car for years and you bought the super decomposing ones and you go to pick up the first load and see your finger inside the bag, go for the other non environmentally friendly black ones instead that you have.  Well, here I am full filling the bucket list......The camera guy was shy and didn't get all of the bottles and cans behind me. I was being heavily scrutinized as you can see by 3 other volunteers. I had such a fantastic time and made so many mistakes. Good thing I'm a...
