#11 KKK, Bar Tending and the NHL

I'm sitting in the Wheatley Library waiting for the printer to print when I suddenly see this book on the shelf. Actually, I could only see the spine. I jump up to grab it thinking, "What the heck is this book doing at the Wheatley Library?" I'm thinking it must be a really old copy, like from 1904 or something but when I check it was printed in 2016. Good Grief!!! I put it back on the shelf and am then haunted by it for days and go back and take it out. Funny it is still on the shelf....
Anyway, it was quite the fascinating read. I had no idea of all the groups included in their hate. It actually was about the 1920s not what you would call up to date. Next time we are together let me know if you want to know anything. I'm a limited wealth of information on the subject now......

Our poinsettia finally got turfed this week. I hate to admit that it probably had a few more weeks in it but I'm had enough of this bush on the table for the last 6 weeks or more. Naturally my next move was to go to Colasanti's Tropical Gardens to get some new flora for the table. It was Monday so not crowded as it can sometimes be. Inspiring. Spring like!!!

I love orchids and can't tell you how many I have killed with love and over attention.

This is the nursery for all the baby plants. Some of them look like they belong in the plant cemetery.

Look at me studiously bar tending both Friday and Saturday nights. I wanted to be the bar tender who sits and talks to the clients for hours but that is not this job. Get them served and get to the next one!!! You can even take your drink into the theatre which is different and pleasant. I'm loving this job!!!

Friday night was Dale's Coffee House with these amazing artists. I'm pretty blown away with the talent that is in this area. Quite different from the scene back home in the Almaguin Hills.

Saturday night was the Improv Group. Again, a show not to be missed. It was hilarious. So much talent!!!

I find this quite interesting. This is the light from a green house almost right in Leamington. We can see the glow from where we live about 25 km. away. I can not believe that there isn't a huge public outcry against this practice. This is pollution of the air ways. Forget seeing the night sky. I love the whole green house scene and the farming of the future outlook but I have a huge problem with this......

"Hey, the NHL old timers are playing the local OPP in Essex!" "Oh, that is nice. If you want to go, I'll get us tickets." What was I thinking!!!!!!!!
We get to the arena yesterday about 30 minutes before kick off or whatever it is called and there is no parking anywhere. There are so many people flocking around.
We finally get inside and I'm looking around thinking what do we do now? This is not my turf. I must have looked so confused that a guy came and asked if I needed help!!! Which I took.
We find seats where I didn't think Ray wanted to sit but he seemed like he just wanted to find seats.....anywhere. The first event was this machine, driven by a woman, cleaning the ice. That was encouraging and good to see.

Good grief, look at all of the people!!!
Less than 5 minutes into the game this little kid behind me said, "Dad, is it done yet?" and I thought, kid, I'm with ya.

I lasted the first period. Just. The seats were made for 1900 bottoms. Not the bottoms that 2024 people have. The puck is so small, I kept loosing track of it. It needs to be about the size of a beach ball for me. Up the ice, down the ice, up the ice, down the ice. You get the picture. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
I went to the washroom which had two stalls for thousands of women. Not sure who designed this feature of the arena complex. Went to the car. Cleaned out my purse which badly needed the attention and started calling people I hadn't spoken to in a long time. I had a great parking lot experience. Ray really liked the game and I really like the parking lot!!!

A touch of spring that I'm hoping to take home and plant in the garden whenever the snow is gone.

This is my other beauty. It is called pink jasmine but as you can see, it is definitely white. It has this lovely scent that Ray calls pungent. I'm not sure that means he likes it. He says he does but I fear one day I'll see this beauty out on the picnic table!!!

And that is it for this past week. We will be heading home in just over 6 weeks. This winter has really flown by. Thanks for sharing it with me. Please share the blog with others. Don't forget to send my your news.

Have a great week and see you next Monday!!!
